Original runs at 6fps on my machines this runs at 60fps. I lowered the resolution by a quarter (4x perf) and golfed 13 chars to let me declare all vars locally (2x perf).

The base code draws a tube. 1/S(i%h+h/2) radius makes the tube have a square cross section.

(Y*Y<8e5||Y%1) randomizes the radius between 0 and 1 near top and bottom.

Err, between -1 and 1, and this makes the top and bottom panels.

I use polar coordinates, even though the radius is uniformly random that results in more dots near the middle :/
