This version is also #improved with a #grow effect and a cap on how dark the image gets if you leave it for a while.
  • u/Xen
    nice!

The brush pressure is derived from velocity and direction (so more caligraphic)
  • u/BriSeven
I love how it feels simultaneously precise and digital and messy analogue.
  • u/tomxor
Thanks :) The dynamics can be easily tweaked too, A*.7 and B*.7 are the inertia (could interpret as how articulated the brush is) and (C-X)/9 and (S-Y)/9 are distance based attraction to pointer (could interpret as bristle length maybe?)

This #illusion is called "bistable perception". When I posted it was looking like a cave, now it seems to keep changing between mountain top and cave. I prefer a cave.
  • u/sigveseb
    yes, I see it now!

To see the mountaintop, maybe look at the blue and imagine it is the floor or the sea, far away.

  • Pendulum Synch - Kuramoto Model
  • u/Qwerasd
    This is really cool.
  • u/katkip
    #math is awesome
  • u/iverjo
    Explanation?
  • u/rodrigo.siqueira
The Kuramoto Model describes how small interactions between oscillators can lead to synchronization between them. E.g. flashing of fireflies, group of metronomes, neural network of spiking neurons can sync after a period. Oscillatory neural networks are a promising field for future research in both natural and Artificial Intelligence

Here's a recent youtube movie that's relevant, and perhaps an inspiration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4PO7NbdKXg #pendulum
