    t: Elapsed time in seconds.
    S: Shorthand for Math.sin.

all of the x.method() calls return undefined, and bitwise operators coerce any non-number into 0, so ~x.foo() = ~undefined = ~0 = -1. The purpose of this - all of those method calls are defined as parameters to other methods, not for their return value, but to save 1 char. i.e x.foo(0,0);x.bar()=18 x.foo(0,~x.bar())=17, that the parameter is -1 instead of 0 doesn't matter too much in these cases.

No links handy, sorry! I can say that this code adapts the concept of signed distance functions. f is a SDF in one dimension, g in two dimensions. g uses binary arithmetic to kind of pick out certain parts of the output of f, and the parameter of g makes it work at different scales.

Also: If you see a term like "i%2" or "i%3" or "(i&5)" in any of my recent dweets...that tends to superimpose two related-but-different patterns on each other. Which can be hard to make work. I am still experimenting!

that "eye of the beholder" platitude does not account for the "other dimension" of ineffable things like beauty, art, literature, etc. There is a dual property which defines the quality of some things, being 1) personal preference, and 2) objective quality with respect to its purpose. Neither bit can be truncated or the truth is lost. Nor can the 2 dimensions be forced into a single, linear value. this is why some contests can never be competitions, but are in fact, popularity contests ;)
